Our history with the Guernsey breed dates back to 1945 when Curtis Orchard left his position at Golden Guernsey Dairy to begin his own Guernsey dairy farm in Eagle, Wis., with wife Violet. Their son Bill, along with wife Kathi, took over the dairy in 1971.
The original home farm where Bill and Kathi raised their three daughters, was located in Waukesha county, which in that time had the largest concentration of Guernseys in the world!
Dec. 3, 2005, was a historic day for Gurn-Z Meadow. Hours before an early winter blizzard hit, four trailers transported the Eagle herd to its new home in Janesville, Wis. Bill and Kathi’s daughters – Julie, Kristi and Jennifer – are continuing the Guernsey tradition with the 50-cow milking herd, along with replacement heifers.
